The Mickey Hart Band -- which in this incarnation Steve Kimock (guitar), George Porter Jr. (bass), Jen Durkin (vocals), and Sikiru Adepoju (talking drum) -- is set to play the Magic City Music Hall on July 18. The Grammy-winning Hart, a dazzling multipercussionist who made his name touring with the Grateful Dead, has been involved in recent years with the Smithsonian's "Global Sound" project. Check it out. He's also been involved with the Smithsonian's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as well as the Library of Congress' American Folklife Center.
